When is the right time to take your Child to dentist?

As a kid we are always told to take care of the teeth and follow a proper dental routine so that the teeth health is maintained. But, parents often wonder when is the right time to take their kids to the doctor. If you are looking for the same answer then this guide is going to tell you everything in brief.

This is the most common question which often comes in the mind of parents that when they should take their kids to the dentist for their first dental visit. Will it be ideal to wait until their first tooth comes? Or Should I wait until all their baby teeth have come in?

Well, it is necessary to schedule the first dental appointment within 6 months when their first tooth comes out. Make sure that you do not wait for 2 years.

What is the need of going so early?

This might come into your mind why you need to go so early. This way, they will become familiar with the dental clinic and understand that they need to take care of their teeth.

The doctor will check whether the teeth are coming properly or not. Also, if there is an issue they will address it right away. So, making your child visit to the dental office at the right time will also help them to avoid anxiety and instead build trust & awareness.

What happens after the first dental visit?

It is important to visit the doctor every 6 months and if the doctor tells you to need to visit more often then do the same.

The doctor will work on the child’s teeth. The second visit will include counting the teeth followed by brushing & polishing them.

When is the time to get a full dental exam?

At the age of 3, your kid will get a full dental check-up. This can start with fluoride treatment and they will be told about brushing & flossing. The doctor also tells the parents to follow the dental care routine with their kids as they understand it in a better way.

Doctors also recommend to make your kid brush the teeth for 2 minutes. You can buy a light that flashes the time or toothbrush which has a set timer.

It is better to make this a fun activity and help your child to understand the importance of healthy & strong teeth. Once they reach the age of 5 they can get the dental X-ray done.

What parents should keep in mind?

Well, you mustn’t be hesitant to bring your kid to the doctor. Visiting the dental office at a young age will take away their fear or anxiety which many people still have. So, schedule an appointment to take your kid to the path of good oral health.
