    TYPES OF DENTAL IMPLANTS

    These are of two types as follows

    Endosteal

    It is the commonly used type of implant. It is done in the bone and screws, blades and cylinders are surgically placed into the jawbone in which one implant holds one or more prosthetic teeth.

    Subperiosteal

    It is done on the bone means the implants are placed on the top of jaw with the posts of metal framework protruding through gum to hold the prosthesis tooth. It is the best option for patient that have minimal height of bone and even unable to wear conventional dentures.

    PROCEDURE

    This procedure of several months is done in the three steps as follows

    Step 1

    In the initial step your dentist implant directly placed into the jawbone that mimic the natural tooth. For some months this implant remains in the bone by allowing it to develop around the implant.

    Step 2

    After the bone development, implant is uncovered and extension called post is attached to it. For some time the post is left for tissue healing

    Step 3

    After the healing process, implant is ready to be tooth root for the new one. Then the artificial crown is made and attached to the post to give completely natural look and smile.

    GOOD CANDIDATES FOR IMPLANTS

    Candidate with the good general and oral health are considered to be good candidate for the dental implant. Ideal candidate is that who has the healthy gum tissues free from periodontal disease and even adequate bone is needed to support the implant.

    Implants have generally success ratio 80 to 95 % depending upon the location of implant in moth and bone structure. People who smoke, grind or clench their teeth are not considered as good candidates for implants and even diabetic patients, osteoporosis that have bone loss are not good candidates for this procedure

    WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER IMPLANTS

    This procedure takes 7-9 months and considered to be safe but the implants require complete oral care and regular dental visits. As the implants mimic the natural teeth so require the same care.
